You have a great product. Some would even say a badass product. Piles of people use it everyday, including myself. Why don’t you help us all out and make something a little simpler?
Every site now has a share this on twitter or post this to Facebook, both of which are quite valuable to the businesses which implement them and both of which are now supported by your application. What that means is that every site has implemented various was to do this (API integration, linking through to the home page, opening a new window, etc).
All of these methods require me to do something I want to avoid. To get around them, I’ve downloaded your app (I am always logged in to facebook and twitter via tweetdeck, i dont have to deal with tracking down pop ups, URL shortening is handled automatically, username autocompletion). Yet, I’m inconvenienced because I am a user of your application when I want to share something on another site.
Have you heard of a feature in Air called browser invocation? You can read more about it here (scroll down to browser invocation). In fact, you’re already using it in your Adobe AIR install badge. This functionality allows you to easily use javascript to check if your application is installed and if it is, send commands to it. See where I’m going here?
You could work with existing sharing widget providers, like AddToAny, to integrate this solution very quickly and impact a massive number of users. Your Javascript would just need to do the following:
