In our recent release, tables started outputting like the above, at random, and every hack in the book wouldn’t solve it. We had traced the problem back to the fact that one td had a width:100% (the title column, which always needed to do a full fill)
Quite randomly, came across this post. If you’re having the above problem, take a look at table-layout:fixed;. Should solve your problem straight away on firefox.
Protip: In IE, you’ll need to supply a width (% or px) on every td or you will get some seriously freakish behavior.
